We are so very sad to hear of the death of Sarah Wheeler founder of the Mental Fight Club and the Dragon Café Southwark.
Sarah was a contributor to and co-producer of issue 3 of our journal Transitions which we launched at the Dragon Café.
May the Dragon continue to breathe fire in her honour
So many have so much to thank her for.
We shall be showing films and playing audio clips as part of our Heritage Lottery Funded project "Between the storms" exploring the heritage of Folkestone as a cross-channel port. The films vary in length between 3 and 10 minutes. The whole showing will be under an hour long and will be looped throughout the hours of opening. The team will be on hand to discuss and explain the project.
We shall also be leading guided walks around the harbour including the pier recently refurbished for leisure activities by the Folkestone Harbour Company. The walk will last between one hour and 90 minutes. Our venue where the walk will start and end is at the centre of the old town harbour district. The distance covered is slightly less than a mile. Event not suitable for children under the age of 8.
The guided walk must be booked

This talk and walk is part of the between the storms project, exploring the heritage of Folkestone as a cross-channel port. We started this project in April 2014, it will run until the end of 2015. We are collecting your memories of Folkestone's time as a cross-channel port. The collection includes spoken memories, writings, images and videos. The talk included sound bites from our oral history interviews and old photos and was followed by a guided walk around the harbour.
This event was very well attended, thank you to all involved but especially to Janice Carrera, the Walker family, Sally & Kay at the town hall and Annie Catford who took these photos.
