ARTISTS WITH A PASSION FOR HERITAGE
Aims
When we set up in 2010 as a vehicle for our “Pride of Place” project. Our initial aim was to boost pride in Folkestone. The town has come on a pace since then, so have we. we now work on projects which spread along the Kent coast.
By default as much as by design we find ourselves working mainly with the over 60’s we are more than happy with this but keen to initiate projects where young and old can work together,
We have always combined our work as visual artist and writer with talks, walks and writings about heritage. Since our first oral history project in 2014 we have discovered a much richer vein to mine, the memories of those who experienced our heritage by living it. This approach sits happily with our personal take on the difference between heritage and history. For us it is all about how we experience and cope with the events, wonderful or terrible, rained down on us by history.
We are artists with a passion for heritage, our next step is to make use of the community’s and our creative skills to present the stories so generously shared, in an exciting and relevant way so as to keep them in the public eye.
